The Civil War Monument, dedicated in 1911, is the centerpiece of St. Joe's Riverside Cemetery.
Sechler's Pickles are made in St. Joe, and the annual Pickle Fest celebrates the town's claim to fame. There's pickle-everything, almost. I didn't see any pickle-flavored ice cream, but I probably didn't look hard enough.
Several varieties were available at the Pickle Fest, and everything was $2.50. I bought a jar of sweet pickle relish and tried it out on a hot dog as soon as I got home. Yum! Just for the record, it's good with Mac & Cheese, too. Or pan-fried liver. We used to have that when I was a kid, and I always liked the way Mom fixed it. That's why, when I first encountered liver in an Air Force mess hall, I was shocked to discover how awful it could be in the hands of incompetent idiots. And no sweet pickle relish.
