October 7, 2010 - Moving up with second and third layers of gabions
I knew that the land near the river had been filled extensively some time in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, but looking at the excavatedarea, it appears that there are two layers of fill, interspersed with building rubble and household items like bottles and broken dishes. I waited until
after hours to climb down into the work area for a closer look.
At least three old drains of vitreous tile once ran into the river. The city ran a camera up into them to see if they still were connected to anything.They aren't.
